I've been noticing something that I perceive to be a little unusual, although maybe I'm just noticing something that all FF sites see - but we have 531 members at the moment, and very, VERY few of our new members have posted to the forums.

I'm not condemning anything, or trying to chase anyone away - I'm just curious as to why that may be.

Any ideas? I'd especially love to hear from a couple of our lurkers (members who haven't posted much, or at all) to see where things are.

I think we have some of the most knowledgable, friendly, and well-informed, and helpful fantasy addicts around - just waiting to be able to answer your trade or start/bench questions.

Is it just that the vast majority of people don't post to forums?

Is there something site-related that I need to improve?

Is something confusing?

Are our members and staff just so darn intelligent, well-informed, and good looking that they are intimidating?  Grin

We're looking to grow as a site and a community, so any information, observations, or advice that might help us hit that next level is very, VERY much appreciated!

This has been an unusual year for me.  I love this site.  But this may be the first time in two months that I have made it by the front page and articles all the way to the forum.  For many years I would not have conceived of that possibility, but work and home have consumed my fantasy football time this year.

Keep up the good work.....more conversation will occur in the off-season as this site grows and people want to argue about the '07 season and what all the insanity has meant.

I'm not sure guys.  Perhaps mass e-mails when your cheetsheat and injury reports come out might help some.  On the bright side, I hit Bodog for the first time in a couple of months, just to check, and nobody has been there at all.

What is missing from the old days is that we don't have each other anymore.  At the old place, you could always count on 20-50 guys being logged in to have a discussion with.  To get that back, we will need a reason for guys to be here, and we all know that this means Survivor Leagues and Leagues in general.

i tend to agree with Drof on this one.  Survivor leagues and/or leagues in general would increase traffic and activity on this site.  i'm sure this would require a much bigger time commitment on your end though.....

this fantasy season has been a different/difficult one for me as well.  In the past i have been in 2 H2H leagues plus a couple others- weekly pick 'em & survivor pick 'em just for fun.  one of my H2H leagues disbanded, so i was looking to finally get serious and join an xperts league of some type, but that became impossible after the 'old' site was sold.  i found this site (thank god) and recognize alot of you from 'back in the day' and have been at least checking this site fairly regularly for news/advice/forums.  in preparation for my only H2H draft this year, i participated in about 8-10 mock drafts on another website.  if they were survivors on this site, i would have preferred that.  i say get 'em going if at all feasible...

also, i spent all summer in Maui and have just recently moved back to colorado.  i found it difficult, timing-wise, to play fantasy ball in Maui.  MNF is on at 3 in the afternoon, and the early games on sunday start at 7am!  i often found myself setting lineups, getting waiver wire requests in, etc.. the night before games instead of on game day when the latest news, etc is available.  of course, i was in Maui, so i can't complain a whole helluva lot!!!!

i'm not sure if i would consider myself a lurker, but as a person who doesn't have an vested interest in the site and also isn't one of the most active members, i would say that survivors would be awesome! 

BTW, tell me about these badlands leagues???

Dugski, thanks for the comments. We would love to have survivor leagues here next year if at all possible, but we need to find a developer for staff to get that done.  We will be working on it.

The Badlands leagues are 4-12 team IDP/Dynasty leagues that we started to get some of the greatest fantasy owners around in one set of leagues. After one season I think we have made a success, as the leagues are competitive and the owners definitely competent.

We will probably not increase the amount of leagues in Badlands, but we are already entertaining ideas of new and different leagues for next season, including an offshoot of Badlands called Gunslingers with some VERY new and unique rules. Stay around and we have some news on these leagues right around Super Bowl time.

Plus we will also be having a Playoff Fantasy Game for all of our members.  We will have more info on that soon.

thanks taz!  It sounds like this site is growing so that's good news.  and it sounds like you have some good ideas too.  i'll keep an eye out for a playoff game....

From the "day late, dollar short" category, thought I would chip in, as a new member.  The sight was recommended by someone in the league I am currently in (yes, only 1 league at this point), and wasn't really sure what to expect.  After seeing how my 2007 season ended up, I now realize I need a lot of help, or at least do a little more homework before next draft season.  Regretting not being more active throughout this year as would have liked to see what you guys are all about, but commit today to be more active going forward.

With 3 kids, volunteer coaching all year, Cub Scout leader, and a full-time job, time is not very abundant for me, so immediate respone should not be expected, but I will be a much more active participant going forward.  Interested in the playoff things you mentioned, but didn't see anything on the sight yet.  With games starting tomorrow, guess I may be out of luck.
