I had to go with Manny Lawson... I think he will be used to rush the passer more than he was last year, and with a season under his belt, I also think he'll rack up a few more tackles.

Based on the offseason thus far, I believe that the 49ers want to use Lawson in more of the Merriman/Suggs model... which should be good news for Lawson and makes him a nice value that late.

Seeing as Crowell and Lawson went in the 21st round in Badlands 4, I would have to say one of those two would be nice value in the 23rd.

Going on the assumption that they are gone, I would have to say that Bradie James is nice value at this point of the draft. He is playing in a system that takes advantage of his strengths and minimizes his weaknesses. His youth and continued improvement over the last two seasons are going to bode well for his future prodcution for any FF owner.

1st thing I would need to know is the scoring system....
In a tackle heavy league I wouldnt touch D'Qwell or Lawson

I would stear clear of Trotter....he will see his playing time cut back this yr(outside chance he could still get cut)...his knees just arent getting any younger.

Bradie James, Crowell and Nappy are in the running for the selection if its not a sack happy scoring system...It will be interesting to see what James does in Wades scheme.  Crowell is manning the SAM and he has been productive fantasy wise from that spot before...and if anything were to happen at MLB or WLB he could slide into either of those spots...also he will be a 3 down guy...Nappy will not play 3 downs and having Edwards and DJ flanking him will limit his upside but he should still put up tackles in the 75 range

Ellison is the pick if you think that he can keep his WLB gig...but thats not a given since DiG seems to be doing well and Poz could very well slide over to WLB....Ellison probably has as much upside as he does downside....

In the end my pick would probably be Crowell

Very nice analysis.  Crowell is definitely a decent chance and as you say, he could still end up in the middle if the other 2 dont pan out.  But I really like what Ellison brings to the table.

And as far as Trotter, color him done.  Even if he starts, Gaither will take over very soon after.  he does not have the range to cover in that system.

i am a philly homer so i was trying to be nice....but seriously if anyone is in a Dynasty league, grab GAITHER NOW...next yr he will be top 20 or better once he takes over full time

Voted Cowell despite all his uncertainty.  Good performance record for past few years and good talent.  Projects well at 2 of the 3 positions possible, and maybe at the SLB.

D. Jackson once his toes are healthy may be a upside surprise.  I believe he was bothered all of last year.

M Lawson was off the field so much of last year, playing only as a situational player.  I would like to see what happens if he plays more.

Tottier will have to rest his knees this year, Harris has struggled in two systems so far, and B James does not have catylist that would have him score any different than last year.

Just as an update to this, Ellison has been the defensive talk of Bills camp, not Poz.  While still considered a little small, he has been all over the field and seemingly has a nose for the ball.

so far Ellison and Crowell have been running in the nickle but I would still be surprised if at some point this season Poz isnt playing in the nickle with crowell
