5 RBs I Will Not Draft

Here is a list of 5 RBs I will not draft, unless of course they fall to me WELL below their normal draft position.

Nice article, Taz!

One of the things about fantasy football that makes it fun to me is the speculation and chance that goes with it.  No player can ever be 100% assured of being a "sure thing" -- injuries, contract disputes, coaching changes, and a downgrade of the play of the other guys around him all can turn a top stud into a "used-to-be" in thw blink of an eye.  Meanwhile, out-of-nowhere guys can suddenly burst onto the scene.

I think the key to winning is to be flexible and to try and maximize your chances.  I never totally rule out any player, but I agree with a lot of what you say.  Each of the guys you mention has some definite downside to weigh before pulling the trigger on a pick.

Well, I'd say it's a pretty good article even though I own almost all these RB'S
in one league or another Undecided

Again, I like the part where you say though if they fell to me in the right round
I'd take them, and I think that's the key.

Clinton Portis, IMO not a Top 10 RB but I would draft him in the 3rd round of any draft,
but then of course I'd look to get Betts later for insurance, as think that's a must in FF anymore
with any RB.

Jones Drew, again I don't think he's a Top 10 RB but I would take him at the end of
the 2nd round if I could, simply because Fred Taylor is 32 years old now and I think
Drew will be a solid #2 RB on any roster for years to come barring a major injury.

Willie Parker, My has he fallen huh? Last year at this time he was a easy top 10 RB
now he's slipped in many drafts to the 4th round, believe it or not I actually
drafted Parker at NFL.COM this year with the 108th overall pick in the 12 spot
and then followed that with selecting Ronnie Brown with the 109, TRUE.
And Yes, I'm gonna kick some butt in that league Grin
But I feel Parker is a solid 5th round pick if you can get him.

Maroney, I can't see grabbing him before the 5th round, I'd rather wait though
and hope he slipped to the 7th, as I to am not sure this guy will materialize as a
solid NFL RB?

Denevr RB'S- are full of shaninagans.........err wait? well yeah, it's something like that,
So you don't like the RB in Denver? wait 5 minutes it'll change Grin

Though I feel Portis and Jones Drew will easily be atleast a strong #2 RB in 08 out of this group,
So I agree they are not first round picks one would want to make. Cool

I decided to keep McGahee over Jones-Drew in a keeper league, and that was before reading your fine article.  Portis was a buy-low guy last year but probably will be a bit overrated this year.  I actually think Willie Parker will be a good value in the third round.  MJD is tough because he gets so few touches.  If you're in a league that uses return yardage, his value is higher.  Maroney took what, ten weeks to score his first touchdown in that offense?  The Denver situation certainly isn't what it was in the past few years.  Sadly, I own pretty much all of the Denver guys in one of my dynasty leagues.

Nice article Taz.  I generally make a tidy profit off of "guys I won't draft" though.  With Portis falling to the third and fourth round last season, I ended up with him on nearly every team that I had.  He was a big part of why "Old Drof" made more money at FF than he ever has.  Portis won't be on any of my teams this year, as I agree with you, he is not worth his retail (ADP) price.

You have another guy on your list that I expect to have a bunch this season.

It looks like Travis will be taking the year off to reflect on his career.
