Interested in an Auction / Contract version of our Badlands Dynasty leagues?

This year we’re going to add a version that cranks up the involvement and detail, and makes it the ultimate for those guys who need the deepest dynasty experience possible:  An auction-contract version!

The roster, scoring, starters, and basic rules of Badlands will still apply.  But what will be different is that EVERY player is signed by auction, where their value is set by however someone is willing to bid.

Really want Ladainian Tomlinson on your team?  No problem – every owner has a shot at him, not just the guy lucky enough to be drafting at 1.01.   But odds are you’ll have to spend a good chunk of change, and then not have as much to spend at the other positions.  It's decisions like these that make an Auction / Contract league fun.

The Badlands Auction-Contract league will also eliminate two of the drawbacks that most A/C leagues suffer from:

-- An artificial salary cap in addition to the “cash” that teams can spend.  This creates “dead cash,” complex rules, and accounting nightmares.  Here, every team starts will equal cash and can ‘spend it if they got it’, even if they collected in a trade.

-- An arbitrary price put on rookies in a yearly draft and extra rules to limit rookie contracts.  The solution is simple:  No draft.  Instead, we’ll have a yearly rookie auction, where every rookie signed is done so at fair market value determined by bidding by every owner.

Interested?  PM me or post below and I'll send you a copy of the rules.

Badlands Auction / Contract Dynasty League Rules Highlights

-- Uses same Scoring, Line-up, Divisional Structure, Playoff, and maximum roster limits as the Badlands Dynasty Leagues.

-- No minimum roster size provided an owner can field a valid line-up each week.

-- Incorporates Salaries and Contracts using “Whizbucks” ($).  Salaries based on $1 increments with no maximum other than what someone is willing to pay.

-- No drafting!  ALL player salaries are decided in free-market auctions, including the rookies each year.

-- No salary cap – you can spend as much money as you have in your account.  This simplifies accounting and eliminates “dead money” that you cannot spend.

-- Each league begins with $5,000 and receives an additional $5,000 each year.

-- Loss – Compensation Income:  A single Off-Season payment of an extra $250 - $1,000 for the teams that finish out of the playoffs each year.

-- Contract Lengths determined by the winner of the auction: 1 – 3 years at the price of the winning bid; 4 years at 125% of the winning bid; or 5 years at 150% of the winning bid.

-- Contracts of less than five years can be extended one-time only, for additional cost, depending on original contract length and how long the extension.  The original contract + extension may not exceed five years.

-- Automatic Performance-Based salary increases for top 6 players at each position of from $10 to $150 per year depending on position and rank.

-- Restricted Free Agency period, where the original team of ownership has to pay an additional 10% of the winning bid to retain a player.  Winning a bid but losing the player can now be a profit-making activity, adding a new element of strategy.

-- Penalties for early release of players, depending on salary and the time remaining on the contract.

-- In-Season Free Agency with shortened auction timers.

-- Trading allowed of players and/or cash.  Contracts and salary obligations remain fixed and transfer with the player.

-- Owner Bankruptcy is grounds for potential removal from the league.
