Well, folks, it's the day before Easter, it's cold and gray and we had snow flurries today and I just spent almost 8 hours at work on a Saturday, so time to relieve a little stress...

BATTER UP...OR MAYBE NOT: Let's start this party with a shot at one of my favorite targets (and one of Adam's as well, I know)...the national sports media. Now, to be honest, to say that most of them have the brains of an avocado is not only demeaning the avacado, but pretty much all fruits and vegetables as well. However, this one seems even dumber than normal to me. I'm talking about all those geniuses I've heard recently posing the following question: why can't Barry Bonds find gainful emplyment this year?

The "logic" here seems to be that the guy is the greatest hitter of all time, can still hit the long ball pretty well, and could surely help an AL contender as a DH. Well, OK, let's grant all that.

But hold on just a minute here. We're talking about a guy facing federal perjury charges who has been the focus of a massive investigation into steroids for years that overshadowed his home run feats and has pundits and a lot of fans alike questioning how many of them are legit.

Additionally, those same writers who are now incredulous that double B is unemployed are the ones who have been vilifying him as the equivalent of a serial rapist during this whole investigation; are clamoring for his home run record either to have an astersik in the record  books or be taken away entirely, and have repeatedly said that they don't believe he should be allowed into the Hall of Fame and that they won't vote for him...AND THEY'RE WONDERING WHY HE DOESN'T HAVE A FREAKIN' JOB IN BASEBALL?

Can someone please clue the media in?

YOU'RE KIDDING ME, RIGHT? I was on the bus on the way home from work today, when my ears detected that snarling, throaty whine that is emitted by high-powerd sports cars or something you normally find on a racetrack. So I look out the window, fully expecting to see something like a Ferrari or Lamborghini next to the bus. Nope...not a high powered vehicle in sight. So where, pray tell, is that sound coming from? Why, from the car right next to the bus...a black, at least three or four year old HONDA CIVIC with a souped up exhaust system! Had to kind of laugh and wonder why anybody would go to the trouble.

PARTY ON, DUDES! From  a story I read in the Columbus Dispatch the other day, about a major drug bust that went down last Monday, aka St. Patrick's Day. Seems that when the arresting officers grabbed the dealers and their coke stash, they found that, in the true spirit of the day, they had diyed their drug supply green. And here I foolishly believed that green beer was the preferred party substance of choice for St. Patty's Day....

RIGHT ON! Let me just close with one that's a purr and definitely NOT a hairball. Although I'm not a fan of the tema by any means, I still have to give major props to the Boston Red Sox, for their stance on potentially refusing to play their last spring training game or get on the plane to Japan for the season opener unless the coaches and staff were paid the same appearance fees that the players were getting.

In the days where it seems like a lot of talk about pro athletes is that they're money-grubbing SOBs, this was definitely a refreeshing change of pace. The fact is, pure and simple, that most baseball coaches and staff toil in relative anonymity, and don't make the big bucks, yet have a lot to do with what eventaully happens on the field. So MAJOR PURRS to the Red Sox players for such an enlightened stance.

If there is a hairball to be ejected in this whole situation...and I'm sure you can see this one coming...it is that THIS SITAUTION SHOULD NEVER HAVE ARISEN TO BEGIN WITH! Like other professional sports, MLB is coining money, and they're trying to go more global and showcase the sport around the world. To even think that the players would get lots of gravy for these games and that the support staff would et nothing is far beyond asinine Perhaps whoever's going to clue in the sports media could visit with MLBs honchos and give them a "V8" head slap or six as well.

That's about it for now, folks...more from the demented paws of Psychocat as the situation warrants.
