Welcome to the Whiz Draft Crew's (WDC) inaugural draft. I will be running these drafts until either the Whiz software is up and running or the season starts!

I will try to keep a list updated of all the players selected and the team rosters. We will rotate order meaning if you draft 1 this time you draft 12 next, 2nd would then draft 1st etc... If anyone already knows a draft position they want to practice or a scoring format you want to use just let me know.

If you are reading this and you would like to be an alternate please post or PM me and I will add you to the list.

The first draft will be a RE-DRAFT NOT DYNASTY (thanks Chris);

B. 12 teams
C. 1 point per reception
D. starting requirement of 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 Flex (RB,WR,TE), 1 TE, 1 K, 1 team D
E. performance scoring with QBs getting 6 points for passing tds

1.1: LaDainian Tomlinson

Temping to go another direction, but Tomlinson is arguably one of the most consistent performers in Fantasy Football - and he is consistent at a very high level. Whether we like it or not, his career probably doesn't have many more seasons left, but he still commands a top pick.

1.02 - Brian Westbrook

Have to go with Westbrook here, especially in a PPR league. Westbrook just seems to keep getting better and I look for it to continue in 2008.

1.03 - Adrian Peterson MIN RB

The previous two running backs taken in this draft played every game this season...while AP missed two...and he scored just slightly lower than they did...in his rookie season...this kid is exciting and is going to be a larger part of the passing game in Minnesota as Tavaris Jackson continues to learn his position at this level.  Peterson has the ability to break a big play at any given time and does not mind putting the extra effort into the game.

I here guys .. didn't think this would start before my finals were up .. one sec

1.04 - Joseph Addai

Tough choice really here, but going with the age differnece in my choice at this spot.My next choice I feel might be seeing alot more RBBC action this year.

I was really expecting to see Addai still on the board here, so here we are -- only 4 picks into the draft -- and I already have to come up with a plan B.  So...

1.05  RB Steven Jackson (STL)

There were a couple of other directions I almost went.  You're supposed to feel very solid with your first overall pick (thank God this is just a Mock), but I'm not as sure as I would like.  Instead, I'm crossing my fiongers and going with Jackson.

St. Louis has some issues (QB, O-line, new coaching staff), and Jackson's injury history makes me nervous, but last year he still managed 237 carries for over 1,00 yards and 5 TDs in spite of missing significant time.

1.06 Larry Johnson  KC RB

I am going to gamble here and hope LJ can be 75%of what he did before the injury.  If he is 90%...then you guys can fight for 2nd.  Not the safest pick....but playing it safe will get you around 8-5 and a 1st Rd play-off loss.

1.07  Clinton Portis RB Washington

Portis was healthy for 16 games in 2007.  He put up 1200 yards and 11 TD's last season.  I expect more yardage, more touches and at least as many TD's in '08 under new head coach Jim Zorn.  Zorn learned the WCO under Holmgren who loves to utilize his RB's.  Underappreciated for the past couple of seasons, I expect Portis to finish in the top five.

Rod emailed me yesterday with his choices and his number 1 choice, a good one I might add was Marshawn Lynch. I think this second year Rb has a big breakthrough this year and is easily a top 10 RB.

1.08 RB Marshawn Lynch goes to Rodhands

1.09 Frank Gore

Thought about going a couple different ways with this pick. But on my board there is a bit of a drop off after Gore so I decideded to grab Gore. His injury history is a concern but when heathly he is a monster. With the addition of Martz, Gore should see more receptions this year and still carry the ball about 300 times.

My bad guys.  I didn't realize this had started.

1.10  Ryan Grant, RB, Green Bay Packers

This was a pick made on upside.  Grant was a HUGE performer last year in about a half of the season.

WOOOOOHOOOO!

Crankin' up "Cat Scratch Fever" and doing a little kitty dance:

Psychocat takes: Fast Willie Parker

Part of that might possibly be home team bias, with me being a gigantic Steelrs fan. But the other part of it is, hey, the guy was leading the NFL in rushing last year beforegetting hurt near the end of the season, and STILL gets no respect. So welcome to the Psycho ward, Fast Willie!

Great job with first round everyone.

1.12 Tom Brady

While I do not expect a repeat of last years amazing performance, Brady will still be the number 1 qb and #1 scorer for all positions in this format IMO ( 6 point passing tds). I believe Brady will need to throw it as many times as last year because their revamped secondary will be giving up many more points! (too many toys, sorry Manning fans) .  The last justification (or is it rationalization) is that  the other rbs left have issues (IMO) or are in a RBBC . (Fact: Brady had 490 points in this format last year a full 130 points more than any qb and at least 110 pts higher than any rb) Normaly I am not a fan of taking a qb in the first or second round.

2.01 Randy Moss

First I am NOT a Patriot fan but much of the same logic applies to this pick. Moss should have another outstanding year and the combo of Brady to Moss should be a formidable match up for the teams with the top tiered RBs. Moss blew away all the WR competition last year posting 387 points in this format that was 70 points more than any other WR and 10 points more than any rb.

Since its the first draft of the year... from the 12 hole... lets see what happens.  Roll Eyes

Brady + Moss in 2007 = 877 points...2008 = Huh?

Well, OK...I'll stick with the conventional now and get my second RB.

Let me preface this pick by mentioning that John Wayne was one of my favorite movie stars. I used to love the Cowboy movies he starred in. Did you know that John Wayne was only his screen name, and that his real name was Marion Morrison? By now you all know where I'm going with this, right?

Marion Barber. I may be taking a bit of a gamble here; there were a couple of other backs that I looked at as well. However, let's face it: the guy's a beast; he plays on a good team and J J has departed for Seattle, so he should be the full-time back. Of course, if the Giants do trade up to get McFadden, that could change, but I'm willing to take the chance.

2.03   T. Owens.

Looking at the RB's left, I realized that I had issues with the 2 I wanted so I went for a TOP WR.  TO is the man in Dallas and he will want to try to keep pace with Moss.  In a 3 WR lineup, I needed I must play.
