If this isn't a classic, i don't what is? Looks like Abedayor had put it away, and then the flop of the year in the box gets the Liverpool kick awarded.

Gerrard could be the coolest customer on the planet, stepping up and nailing that penalty kick.

3-2 Liverpool going into stoppage time.

What a finish!

Not familiar with the "Scousers" term?

oh ya, guess i could use the internet -

Scouse (pronounced /ˈskaʊs/) is the accent and dialect of English found in the city of Liverpool, in some adjoining urban areas of Merseyside, and the new town areas of Runcorn and Skelmersdale. The Scouse accent is highly distinctive and sounds wholly different from the accents used in the neighbouring regions of Cheshire and rural Lancashire. Inhabitants of Liverpool are called Liverpudlians, but are more often described by the colloquialism Scousers

Damn, hope none of these people in the stands have to go to work too early in the morning. Looks like it's gonna be a helluva party.

One thing I didn't exactly understand was the announcer kept saying that when Arsenal tied it at 2-2, that they were on to the next round. What was the premise of the tie-breaker that he was referring to? Any idea? I would have thought they would go to extra time and then penalty kicks?

the first game at arsenal was 1 - 1
the second game at liverpool was 2 - 2 (at that point)

in cup football when two teams are tied after normal time in the second game the "away goals rule" comes into affect

this ineffect doubles the tally of all away goals scored so the aggregate score would have gone from

3-3 to 4-5 in arsenals favour...see?

only if both games have identical scorelines(but in reverse OBV) can a cup game go to extra time and penalties

ANND

can i just say OMFG what a game Tongue was on the edge of my seat the whole time... though was kinda dissappointed with the start we made(arsenal plainly more skilful) after about 25minutes liverpool bossed the game

got it, thanks for the explanation. That explains what I was reading about Benitez possibly wanting to try to play for a scoreless tie.

What a choke by Ronaldo. I could have made that. Barcelona dominated the possession, as it seems like Barca always does. Can't wait for the re-match at Trafford next Tuesday. Rooney hopefully is back to 100%, as he seemed to be struggling from the hip injury he suffered against Blackburn.

Just revisited this thread.  Pleased to note I was on the money with Cristiano Ronaldo as the EPL player of the year.

I've finished blowing my own horn now........thanks......

You mean Christiano "PKChoker" Ronaldo? No player maybe in the history of sport got bailed out as hard as he did in the Champions League Final.
