The Miami Dolphins released nine players on Monday, including quarterback Trent Green and wide receiver Marty Booker.
The other players released were offensive tackles LJ Shelton, Anthony Alabi, Marion Dukes, and Joe Toledo. Defensive tackles Keith Traylor, Anthony Bryant, and Marquay Love were also cut.
There is a chance that Green, who was cut primarily for salary cap reasons, could return to the team. |

The Carolina Panthers on Tuesday released linebacker Dan Morgan and offensive guard Mike Wahle.
Morgan has proven to be one of the most injury-prone players in the league, missing substantial time in each of his seven seasons in the NFL. Perhaps his most significant injuries have been the concussions he has suffered over the course of the last two seasons.
Wahle appears to be a salary-cap move. The release of both players will save the Panthers approximately $6 million on this year's cap. |

The Washington Redskins revealed Saturday evening that the team has hired Jim Zorn to replace Joe Gibbs as the team's new head coach. A formal announcement is expected at a 3:00PM press conference on Sunday.
Zorn is a former NFL quarterback who has been the Seattle Seahawks' quarterbacks coach the last two seasons. On January 26th, the Redskins hired Zorn to be the team's new offensive coordinator, but apparently decided to bump him to head coach when talks broke off with the Giants' Steve Spagnuolo.
Zorn is expected to install a version of the West Coast Offense in Washington. The Redskins already threw to Cooley a lot, and this certainly shouldn't hurt his stock. |

According to ESPN.com, the Carolina Panthers have reached a contract extension agreement with reserve defensive tackle Damione Lewis, who led the defensive line with a whopping 3 1/2 sacks in 2007.
Lewis was slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the month.
The Panthers' defensive line is a huge question mark heading into 2008. Kris Jenkins' future with the team is uncertain, Mike Rucker (33) will not retire, but is expected to leave the team via free agency, and Julius Peppers, in a word, sucked last year. Keeping Lewis may not be a huge deal, but it does mean the team may not have to completely rebuild the defensive line this offseason. |

The Chicago Tribune reports that star Bears' linebacker Brian Urlacher recently underwent surgery to repair damage in his neck. Urlacher has been limited by an arthritic condition in his back, but the Bears declined to comment on the neck surgery on Friday.
The surgery is reportedly "minor," and Urlacher is expected to be ready to play by the start of training camp in July. The Bears need Urlacher healthy. If he is delayed at all from returning by the start of training camp, the Bears' linebacker corps could find themselves in a tough spot once again. |

The Denver Post reports that Broncos' wide receiver Javon Walker is expected to be traded or cut within the month. Walker, who has missed the majority of the last three seasons due to injuries, has been vocal about his unhappiness with his respective teams - first the Green Bay Packers, and now the Denver Broncos.
People blamed the Packers for Walker's crybaby routine three years ago... one has to wonder if he used up whatever positive sentiment he had built up back then. Walker's an incredibly talented receiver, but between his whining and recent propensity for nagging knee injuries, he is officially a high risk/reward prospect. |

The Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday placed the team's 2008 franchise tag on tight end LJ Smith, who is scheduled to enter free agency at the end of February.
Thursday was the first day that teams could use the tag to restrict players' entry into free agency. The tag essentially prevents other teams from signing Smith because the Eagles would both have the right to match any offer, and would receive two first round draft picks as compensation if they decline to match. It is a bit of a surprise that they would tag Smith because a) while he is a good player, he isn't in the true top-tier of tight ends, and b) while he has played almost every game, he has failed to do so at full effectiveness due to a litany of injuries. Maybe if b) can be avoided, a) will emerge... but it seems increasingly unlikely. |

The Associated Press reports that assistant Jim Mora Jr has been tabbed by the Seattle Seahawks as head coach Mike Holmgren's successor - in 2009.
Yes, that's right. The Seahawks have named their new head coach for the year AFTER the upcoming NFL season.
Holmgren has already revealed that 2008 will be his last season, so the Seahawks are basically wrapping up Mora so nobody sneaks in this year and steals him away. Because he was SO successful in Atlanta. Sarcasm aside, the players like Mora, and he has been effective working with the defense. Everybody deserves a second chance, right? |

New Orleans Saints' defensive lineman Charles Grant, the team's 2002 first round draft pick, was stabbed in the neck during an early Sunday morning altercation at a nightclub in Early County, Georgia.
Grant is expected to be fine.
I realize that most trips to the club go without incident, but it certainly seems as though the vast majority of trouble that NFL players find themselves in is a result of an evening out at the nightclubs. Maybe NFL players should just say no a little more to the nightclub scene... |

Indianapolis Colts' star safety Bob Sanders, who has missed time often in his career due to injury, underwent shoulder surgery this week to repair a lingering injury and clean out debris from the joint.
Sanders played the surgery down as "a little maintenance."
Given his injury history, we can only hope that repairing the shoulder helps keep him on the field. |

Suspended Tennessee Titans' cornerback Adam 'Pacman' Jones was informed by the NFL on Friday that the league does not plan to reinstate him in the immediate future, according to ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen.
Jones has been suspended for several run-ins with the law and other legal issues, and has been caught lying to Commissioner Goodell. He has also repeatedly violated the conditions that Goodell placed on his return to the league. |

Pk 2.06 Randy Moss With the 6th pick of the 2nd round Taz selects WR Randy Moss of the AFC Champion and Super Bowl loser New England Patriots.
I was the first to say that I didn't think Moss would have a good season in 2007, but I hope I learn from my mistakes. While I don't think Moss produces 23 TDs in 2008, I can easily see him as the top WR once again. Once the Pats lost to the Giants in the Superbowl, they are going to come back with a vengence in 2008.
Look for Moss to get 90 receptions for 1300 yards and 18 TDs.

Pk 2.05 Reggie Bush With the 5th pick in the 2nd round Trufan23 selects RB Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints.
Bush is perhaps the quickest, most explosive running back in all of football. He has the rare ability to take the ball in for a touchdown from anywhere on the field and the shiftiness to completely befuddle a defender in the open field. He also has enough 'pop' in his running style to deliver a blow to a defender trying to bring him down. Bush has very soft hands and caught an amazing 90 passes his rookie year, scoring 8 touchdowns. His injury is a concern but according the doctors he will not require surgery and HC Payton said, "If you just study the history of PCL injuries, I know they vary with each player, but it is an injury that you come back from" With 1 PPR for RB Bush is a steal in the 2nd.
Numbers for 08
1650 combined yards
90 receptions
11 TD's

Pk 2.04 Marion Barber With the 4th pick of the 2nd round Brian Kruper selects RB Marion Barber of the Dallas Cowboys.
Tough choice right here, but feel good with Barber as my selection.
This Cowboy is a horse to take down, and skies the limit for this guy. 31 career td's,while only starting 4 games out of 45.That is incredible!!!!
With the status of Julius Jones returning next season unlikely, Barber is headed for even bigger things.
Welcome aboard Marion.

Pk 2.03 Ronnie Brown With the 3rd pick of the 2nd round Rod Hands selects RB Ronnie Brown of the Miami Dolphins.
Well as of now this is considered a gamble because obviously noone knows how he will come back after an injury but one things for sure... Brown looked like a demon before he went down last year... multiple TD games on a regular basis... there is no real competition in the backfield and with more than likely a rookie QB/ journeyman QB heading up Miami's offense next year you can expect the same amount of work he saw this year... an interesting fact is that brown proved himself as a reciever last year and so PPR seems to suit well... not as well as my projected pick though i wanted LYNCH!!!

Pk 2.02 Marshawn Lynch With the 2nd pick in the 2nd round Puff selects RB Marshawn Lynch of the Buffalo Bills.
This may be a little bit of a homer pick, but new Bills offensive coordinator Turk Schonert plans on using Lynch as an every-down back in 2008. This alone should add to his value. If Buffalo can pick up a solid QB or WR in the Draft or FA it should help Lynch avoid 8 men in the box.

Pk 2.01 Jamal Lewis With the 1st pick of the second round Chrislions selects RB Jamal Lewis of the Cleveland Browns.
With PPR scoring, it's very tempting to grap a top WR here, but that means no RB at all until 3.12 -- 36 picks into the draft ( :shudder: ). I just can't do it. Instead, I'll go with the guy who had a huge rebirth in Cleveland this year: Jamal Lewis. Not a great option for long-term success in a dynasty league and well-past his 2,000 yard rushing years, Lewis should still have solid value next year for the Browns. He topped 1,500 total yards and had 11 TDs this year, and will once again be a workhorse for the Browns (if contract talks pan out as expected).

Pk 1.12 Tom Brady WIth the 12th pick of the 1st round Chrislions selects QB Tom Brady of the Superbowl bound New England Patriots.
Picking 12th in any draft is always tough. Being a guy who leans heavily towards the traditional back-to-back RB-RB in the first two rounds, it's hard to overcome the urge to go scraping through the remaining RB's to try and find someone who is worth the reach.
But in this mock format, with 6 points for every TD including passing, this QB just holds too much value to pass over. Super Bowl bound and record-setting (4,800 yards and 50 TDs), Brady is the core of the explosive Patriots offense. While a return to more normal numbers is likley next year, there is no reason to think he'll fall too far, and will remain an elite QB. He's the player who can be most expected to carry a fantasy team, and makes a solid point to build from if you can't get one of the top RB's.

Pk 1.11 Willie Parker With the 11th pick of the 1st round Puff selects RB Willie Parker of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With the passing game opening up a little more with Holmes and Miller (and Ward) he probably won't be running as much as he did this season, but he should have more room to work with. Throw in the fact he can score from almost anywhere he's worth a 1.11 pick.

Pk 1.10 Maurice Jones-Drew With the 10th pick of the 1st round Rod Hands picks RB Maurice Jones-Drew of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
At a bit of an empasse here as there was a couple of directions i could of gone but i figure to take the explosive MJD who plays on a perennial contender... i look for him to take over the snap ratios this year and still to be explosive on the return game
Like i said this was a choice of about 4 so.
