The Ravens have waived running back Jamal Lewis, general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced today. But, just one day before the start of free agency, that doesn't mean that the seven-year veteran won't don a Ravens' jersey in the future. Newsome expressed his desire to re-sign Lewis sometime this offseason. "We are involved in negotiations with Jamal, and there has been good dialogue," said Newsome. "Jamal has been a significant contributor to us in the last seven seasons. Ravens.com |

When presented with the rumor that the Kansas City Chiefs may be shopping QB Trent Green, a source at the NFL Combine told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that the Dolphins would be interested in dealing to acquire him. The Dolphins have already revealed that 2007 starter Joey Harrington will likely be released before the end of the week, leaving Daunte Culpepper and Cleo Lemon as the remaining passers on the roster. Trent Green throwing to Chris Chambers would certainly be intriguing from a fantasy perspective, but perhaps the most telling part of this rumor is that the Dolphins are clearly not sold on the health or ability of Daunte Culpepper. Culpepper may be a risk/reward pick, but it's looking like an awfully huge risk at this point. |

The New York Jets could be sending quarterback Patrick Ramsey out to the free agent market before Saturday, March 3, sources close to the team report. Ramsey is due a $1.4 million roster bonus on Saturday. He failed to mount any type of competition to veteran quarterback Chad Pennington during training camp and preseason of last year. The Jets are trying to trade Ramsey for a sixth-round pick that they gave up to the Washington Redskins last year to obtain his services. |

The Oakland Raiders are looking for a way to dump disgruntled wide receiver Randy Moss. It appears that the Green Bay Packers are interested in taking him off the Raiders hands. However, his price tag is too high for the team and would be inclined to re-structure his contract so that it is more salary-cap friendly. Moss is an arch-nemisis of the Packers going back to his years with the Minnesota Vikings and his most notorious act was doing a fake "moon" to the Lambeau faithful after scoring a touchdown. The Raiders are likely looking for a first round draft pick for Moss, which is alot to pay for a player that has professed that he takes plays off. |

As we draw closer to the start of free agency, rumors of this team being interested in that player fly incessantly. However, one team frequently lands the players they are rumored to like heading into the free agency period - the Washington Redskins. We can debate the creative accounting they must use to be able to afford some of the players' salaries, but the fact remains that Dan Snyder loves to land his big fish, and this year's early entry into the Monster Fishing tournament is Buffalo Bills' linebacker London Fletcher (a.k.a Fletcher-Baker). When the Bills first acquired Fletcher, Gregg Williams was Buffalo's head coach. Now Williams serves as Washington's assistant head coach - defense. Given the published reports, Daniel Snyder's wallet, and the presence of Gregg Williams, it appears that there is a very good chance that this rumor has some serious legs. |

One of the players expected to garner a lot of interest when free agency begins on March 2nd is no longer available. The Kansas City Chiefs reached a three-year agreement with quarterback Damon Huard on Tuesday. Additional terms were not revealed, but it is believed to be worth about $7.5 million. Mixed news for the fantasy world. a) Huard knows the system and performed quite well in it last year. b) Huard remains a backup. c) Croyle remains #3 on the depth chart. d) If Green struggles, the Chiefs appear to have less motivation to let him throw through it. Okay, so the fantasy perspective is mostly bad for everyone involved. Unless, of course, trade rumors regarding Trent Green turn out to be true. |
