The Detroit Lions re-signed two players to one-year contracts Wednesday.

Running back Aveion Cason and defensive tackle Cleveland Pinkney will stay on the team for another season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday signed two free agent defensive tackles; former Jets' DT Lance Legree, and DT Kenny Smith, who has been out of football the past two seasons.

Following up a story from Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers have, indeed, waived veteran fullback William Henderson.

Additionally, the Packers re-signed linebacker Tracy White, who led the team with 17 special teams tackles in 2006.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports that the Atlanta Falcons have signed free agent cornerback Lewis Sanders to a contract.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available. Sanders played last year for the Houston Texans.

The Associated Press reports that the Washington Redskins have saved $1.5 million on the team's salary cap by releasing kicker John Hall on Wednesday.

Hall has struggled the past several seasons with injuries, and Shaun Suisham has performed well in his place.

The San Diego Chargers announced on Wednesday that they have re-signed reserve offensive lineman Cory Withrow.

Withrow saw most of his action on special teams in 2006. He agreed to terms of the three-year deal on Tuesday afternoon.

Free agent wide receiver Donte Stallworth left New England, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus, without signing a contract with the team. There were reports that they had struck a deal, and even one local outlet stated that it had been signed.  The Philadelphia Eagles may be able to bring back Stallworth with a one-year deal.  Also, the Eagles are not discounting working out a long-term deal with Donte.

A rumor that appears to have some legs in the Ravens' community is that the Baltimore Ravens will release offensive guard Edwin Mulitalo.

Mulitalo is an eight-year veteran who has started almost every game in which he has appeared. However, in 2006 he played in only four games before suffering a season-ending torn right triceps.

Free agent defensive tackle Jason Fisk, who will not be re-signed by the St Louis Rams, has reportedly decided to retire rather than test the free agent market, reports the St Louis Post-Dispatch.

Fisk, 34, forced one fumble and registered 35 tackles as the Rams' reserve nose tackle in 2006.

According to the St Louis Post-Dispatch, the St Louis Rams have signed running back Travis Minor to a one-year deal.

The Green Bay Packers are rumored to be in negotiations with free agent fullback Justin Griffith, formerly of the Atlanta Falcons. A deal may be reached before the end of the day Wednesday.

Running back Jamal Lewis' return to the Baltimore Ravens could be a thing of the past. As Lewis is due to visit the Cleveland Browns this week, the Ravens have approached the Buffalo Bills in acquiring running back Willis McGahee.  McGahee will likely cost the Ravens a first-round draft pick and will be more costly than the one-year offer that has been extended to Lewis.

Also, McGahee is looking for a contract extension from the team that acquires him.

Newly signed quarterback Brad Johnson made it clear that his signing with the Dallas Cowboys was not one to mentor young quarterback Tony Romo, but to be "ready to play at any moment." He stated, "I've never agreed with that terminology, that term: mentor."

Johnson has lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl championship in 2002. His arrival in Dallas was based on his opportunity to play and being friends with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. He also stated, "My thing is to work hard in practice and have a great relationship with Tony (Romo) and hopefully he has the best year of his life."
