Running back Jamal Lewis' return to the Baltimore Ravens could be a thing of the past. As Lewis is due to visit the Cleveland Browns this week, the Ravens have approached the Buffalo Bills in acquiring running back Willis McGahee. McGahee will likely cost the Ravens a first-round draft pick and will be more costly than the one-year offer that has been extended to Lewis.
Also, McGahee is looking for a contract extension from the team that acquires him. |

The Washington Redskins have signed to big name players to their roster with linebacker London Fletcher-Baker and cornerback Fred Smoot, but they are not satisfied yet. The organization is still wanting to bring in cornerback Dre Bly, who was traded to the Denver Broncos by the Detroit Lions.
The Redskins are were still under the salary-cap by $8.4 million prior to their signing of cornerback Ade Jimoh, according to sources knowledgable to the situation. Washington was working to make the trade with the Lions and had even offered Bly a lucrative new contract.
Bly has stated his desire to play for the Redskins and has been vocal about it with those around the situation. The Broncos were willing to trade Bly and was interested in getting running back Ladell Betts in the deal, but head coach Joe Gibbs is intent on pairing him with running back Clinton Portis. Another option is to deal the Lions their first round pick, sixth overall, which is being coveted by Detroit, while the Redskins get Bly and possibly a second- and third- round pick. |

Newly signed quarterback Brad Johnson made it clear that his signing with the Dallas Cowboys was not one to mentor young quarterback Tony Romo, but to be "ready to play at any moment." He stated, "I've never agreed with that terminology, that term: mentor."
Johnson has lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl championship in 2002. His arrival in Dallas was based on his opportunity to play and being friends with offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. He also stated, "My thing is to work hard in practice and have a great relationship with Tony (Romo) and hopefully he has the best year of his life." |
