The Chicago Bears have released dud RB Cedric Benson after he had been arrested a second time in 5 weeks for DUI. He tried to issue an apology this morning, but the team must have felt that it was too little too late for him.
Benson is just another clown who just doesn't get it. He is no big loss and hopefully no other team thinks that he can help them. Guys like this just need to be drummed out of the league.

ESPN is reporting that the GIants leading sack leader, Michael Strahan has decided to retire after a brilliant 15-year career. Strahan is a 7-time Pro Bowler, and the NFL's active leader in sacks, who is almost a lock to make the Hall Of Fame on his first ballot.
It's great to see a superstar who goes out on top. Too many try to prolong their careers and play until they have nothing left.
WAY TO GO MICHAEL, THANKS FOR EVERYTHING.

Certified genius Cedric Benson, the troubled former top-5 draft pick running back of the Chicago Bears, has been arrested for the second time in under a month.
Benson was arrested for driving while intoxicated after failing a field sobriety test. His attorney claimed that Benson only had a couple of beers, and was more likely to be in trouble for breaking his curfew than anything.
Previously, the running back had been arrested for boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
Something tells me the league is not going to agree with Benson's lawyer... look for the Bears to do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they can to put Matt Forte on the field. |

Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark calls Bills running back Marshawn Lynch the "principal suspect" in an alleged hit-and-run accident, saying the player was inside his vehicle when it struck and injured a pedestrian.
What's unclear, Clark said Thursday, is whether Lynch was driving the 2008 Porsche SUV when it struck a woman crossing an intersection in downtown Buffalo before speeding off early Saturday.
"There were other people in the car, too, (Lynch) wasn't the only person in the car," Clark told The Associated Press. "I don't know whether he was driving that car or not. But I'm confident that before the investigation ends, we're going to find out, whether he talks to us or whether he doesn't."
This is starting to look bad for the young RB, especially since he has not yet spoken to the cops or DA. The Bills might yet be in a position to want to pick up one of the experienced RBs that find themselves without a team. If you own Lynch in fantasy leagues, make sure you keep an eye on this story.

The Oakland Raiders signed running back Darren McFadden late Thursday night, making sure their first-round draft pick will be in training camp after JaMarcus Russell's protracted holdout last year.
Several media outlets reported on their Web sites McFadden agreed to a six-year deal worth up to $60 million, with $26 million guaranteed.
It's obvious the team did not want to repeat last year's signing disaster with QB JaMarcus Russell. The only person who was probably hoping for a holdout was Justin Fargas. McFadden should be the opening day starter, and if Fargas can be a 1,000 yard running back with that O-line, then McFadden could have a great shot at ROY honors.

Cowboys agreed to terms with WR Terrell Owens on a four-year, $34 million contract. The deal contains $13 million guaranteed, including a $12.9 million signing bonus.
Owens will most likely end his career with the Cowboys following this contract as he is now signed through 2011. With him turning 35 this year it is hard to think that he will play for another 4 years, but anything is possible with him. Somewhere Tony Romo is dancing a jig.

SI.com's Jim Trotter reports ex-Bengals LB Odell Thurman has violated the NFL's substance abuse policy again and faces an indefinite suspension.
This should be the third strike for Thurman, and it is unlikely that he will ever play in the NFL again. Such a waste for someone who showed so much promise as a rookie.

The NFL ruled today that newly acquired Cowboy, Pacman Jones will be allowed to participate in the Cowboys offseason workouts. This includes everything through preseason and it is one step closer for the much put-upon defensive back.
It is very hard to imagine the league letting this "cancer" play again, but money talks. It's obvious that Jerry Jones is imposing a lot of pressure on the league to reinstate him. The good thing is that we all know Pacman can't go 4 months without getting into trouble again.

The Denver Broncos have released once heralded RB Travis Henry.
"Although Travis has the ability to be one of the top running backs in the NFL," coach Mike Shanahan said in a pointed statement, "We did not feel his commitment to the Broncos was enough to warrant a spot on this football team."
This might actually be good for Henry owners. If he is lucky enough to catch on in the right situation, his value could increase over the Shananigans in Denver.

Bears LB Brian Urlacher told the Chicago Tribunbe today that he plans on attending the Bears mandatory minicamp that starts on Friday. He had threatened to skip the minicamp because of a contract dispute.
Normal procedure here. Threaten to stay away UNTIL it's going to cost you money. This is better for fantasy owners though as it will allow us to see how far he has come from his neck surgery.

Last week, wide receiver Terry Glenn revealed that the Cowboys were keeping him out of the team's off-season workouts. Now we know why.
According to Glenn, the team has asked him to sign a $500,000 injury settlement -- relieving them of any further obligation if he is sidelined for the season due to his surgically repaired right knee. If Glenn was injured without the waiver, the team would be on the hook for his entire 2008 salary of $1.74 million So far, Glenn has declined to sign the waiver and has not been allowed to participate in the "organized team activity" workouts the past two weeks.
For the Cowboys, its simply a business decision. For Glenn, it's evidence that the Cowboys are not as confident in his recovery and rehab as they say they are.

The Kansas City Chiefs have send DE Jared Allen to the Minnesota Vikings for 3 draft picks. Kansas City will recieve the Vikings 1st (17th overall), and both of it's third round picks, 73rd and 82nd overall. The teams also swapped spots in the 6th round.
The Vikings defensive line just got a lot stronger. This defense could be one of the top fantasy scoring defenses, especially if they can shore up their secondary in the draft. Allen could even better his numbers from 2007 with the two monster Williams next to him.

Steve McNair intended to complete the final three years of his contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He worked hard during the offseason and arrived at minicamp ready to assume his role as the starting quarterback.
His body had other plans.
McNair announced his retirement Thursday, ending a 13-year career in which he was selected co-MVP, led the Tennessee Titans to the Super Bowl and orchestrated the most successful regular season in the Ravens history. He received a standing ovation from his teammates after revealing his decision, then contained his emotions during a hastily arranged news conference.
He may have been on his way out anyway, but you can never take away the toughness that he played with year in and year out. He may never make the Hall Of Fame, but he will always be remembered. Good luck Steve.

Following yet another run-in with the law, the Cincinnati Bengals have cut ties with incorrigible cancer Chris Henry.
Henry, 24, surrendered to police Wednesday evening after he was accused of punching an 18-year old in the face and breaking his car window with a beer bottle.
Henry has had a number of encounters with law enforcement, ranging from a recent court appearance for driving with an expired license plate to five arrests since December, 2005.
The receiver served a league suspension, and created a great deal of frustration within the Bengals' organization.
Commissioner Goodell isn't going to take this one lightly. Say goodnight, Gracie. |

Defensive end Kevin Carter, released at the end of February in a salary-cap related move by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has reportedly decided to re-join the Bucs for a one-year contract, spurning a two-year offer from the Oakland Raiders.
Carter is expected to make less than he did last year in the first season of a four-year deal he originally accepted to join the Buccaneers. He is entering his 14th NFL season. |

The Philadelphia Eagles on Monday signed former Patriots' and Colts' defensive tackle Dan Klecko to a two-year contract - to be the team's new full-time fullback.
Klecko has played sparingly on offense over the years, scoring one touchdown two years ago with the Colts. He enters the team competing, at this time, only against a player who was on the practice squad last year (Jason Davis) after the team did not re-sign former starter Thomas Tapeh. He says, though, that he intends to lose about 20 pounds in order to transition to the position. |
