The Whiz is proud to present Fantasy Football Stud Poker!

Fantasy Football Stud Poker

This is a game based on the popularity of Fantasy Football and Poker and here at The Whiz we decided to combine the two. Each week a hand (5 players of a starting team) will be dealt to each owner. They will then bid on their hands, with a maximum of 3 raises. Whichever team’s hand scores the most fantasy points that week based on our scoring will win the Whiz-Bucks that were wagered. The team with the most Whiz-Bucks at the end of the season is the overall winner.

The object of the game is to end the season with the most Whiz-Bucks. The way to do that is shown below.

The Rules:

Each league consists of 10 teams. Each team will be assigned a number between 1 and 10 as they sign up.

Each team has 10,000 Whiz-Bucks to start the season.

Each week a starting lineup of 1 QB 1 RB 2 WR 1 TE will be dealt for each hand. No teams will know which cards are given to the other teams. Not all cards will be studs.

Each week the order of making bets will be determined by the dice roll as shown below.

Each team will Ante 100 Whiz-Bucks at the start of each week. This is included before the cards are dealt.

The Deal:

The cards will be randomly dealt here at The Whiz offices every Tuesday morning at 8am EST. No members of The Whiz staff can participate.

Every Tuesday morning starting at 9am EST each team will be asked to use this link to roll the dice: http://www.rpglibrary.org/software/securedice/    (all dice rolls must be completed by 8pm EST on Tuesday. If any rolls are not completed, then those teams will pick last depending on their rolls from the previous week. For example, if 3 teams did not roll the die, then they will pick after all the teams that did roll, but in high to low order of the previous week’s roll. If they have not rolled 2 or more weeks in a row, they will pick last from that point forward.)

This is what you will see:
RPG Library Secure Dice is a free online dice roller which will generate random numbers, generate a MD5 checksum of the results, and email those results to the email address(es) you specify.

The subject will be the name of the league and the week of the season.

Once you have rolled the dice, you will post your results in the Die Roll thread of your league. It is the owners responsibility to keep the emails with the results in case there is a problem or concern.

The highest roll with then pick the number of the dealt hand (#’s 1-10) that they want. Then the rest of the hands will be assigned according to team number.

For example:

Table 3 has only 4 people that rolled the dice on Tuesday before the deadline:
Seat # 3 rolled a 87
Seat # 4 rolled a 44
Seat # 7 rolled a 91
Seat # 9 rolled a 26

So seat # 7 had the high roll....that person then chose hand # 4,,,,so:

Seat #7 gets Hand #4
Seat #8 gets Hand #5
Seat #9 gets Hand #6
Seat # 10 get Hand #7
Seat #1 gets Hand #8
Seat #2 gets Hand #9
Seat #3 gets Hand #10
Seat #4 gets Hand #1
Seat #5 gets Hand #2
Seat #6 gets Hand #3

Once all the hands have been picked, they hands will be PM’d to you at The Whiz before 10am EST on Wednesday morning.

The Deck:

The playing card deck will consist of the following: (all based on the current Whiz redraft average rankings at the respective positions)

QB – Top 25
RB – Top 35
WR – Top 50
TE – Top 25

Making bets:

Betting start at 6pm EST on Wednesday and every team has 2 hours to either start the betting or call the previous bets. The betting will proceed in the order that the hands were picked that week. If a team misses their window, they automatically fold their hand.

There is an Auto-Call feature where you can PM or email Taz with your highest call bid, and if it is your turn to bet and the current bet is under your auto-call, the bet is called. If it is over your auto-call, then the hand is folded.

Minimum bet is 200 Whiz-Bucks. Any raises have to be a minimum of 200 Whiz-Bucks, but there is limit of 3 raises per betting period.

Any team can go all-in at any time, but if they lose, they have the option to buy back in one time only, and only if it is before week 10. A buy-in player will get another 10,000 Whiz-Bucks for $10. After week 10, if they lose an all-in bet then they are lost for the rest of the season.

Any team that does not call the highest bet is out for that week and will lose whatever Whiz-Bucks they had already wagered. They will be able to bet again the following week.

Scoring:

6 pts per TD (passing, rushing, receiving)
1 pt per 25 yards passing
1 pt per 10 yards rushing & receiving
2 pts per 2 pt passing, rushing or receiving conversion
1 pt per reception

All ties will be broken as follows:

  1. Highest score at QB
  2. Highest score at RB
  3. Highest score at WR
  4. Highest score at TE
  5. If still tied, the names of the tied teams will be drawn out of a hat.

The Season:

The season consists of weeks 2-17, with week 1 as a practice week. Betting will occur in week one, but no one will win any Whiz-Bucks.

The Cost:

The cost to play is $10 per team. 80% of the money collected will be paid to the winner. Any buy-ins will also cost $10. All fees to be paid to Jim Day at Paypal, using This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Please include a team name and league number with payment.

The Winner:

The winner is the team with the most Whiz-Bucks at the end of the regular season.

If we have more than 4 leagues, there will be a winner’s league to be played during the playoffs and Superbowl.
