The New York Jets have signed wide receiver David Clowney from the Green Bay Packers' practice squad.
Clowney was a fifth-round draft choice out of Virginia Tech who the Packers liked in training camp, but he was the odd man out and ended up on the practice squad. He won't break into the starting lineup in New York anytime soon, but he is a guy worth keeping an eye on as he develops. |

The San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday waived wide receiver Taylor Jacobs and fullback Zack Keasey, signing tackle Patrick Estes and receiver Bryan Gilmore to the open roster spots.
Keasey is a practice squad regular, while Gilmore has some experience - but has not been able to stick anywhere. Neither are expected to make any sort of appreciable fantasy impact. |

Jacksonville Jaguars' left tackle Khalif Barnes crashed into a tree after driving through a yard last weekend, reports NBC Sports.
Barnes fell asleep while on his way to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium for treatment on his sprained ankle. He was not injured in the crash, but left the scene. He went to his treatment, then directly to the sheriff's office after the treatment was completed.
In July, Barnes pleaded no contest to drunken driving and was sentenced to six months' probation.
It's unlikely that the accident itself would represent a violation of Barnes' probation, but it is conceivable that leaving the scene could be. While unfortunate and irresponsible, this doesn't really have the feel of something that will be considered a violation of the personal conduct policy, and likely won't land him in jail, either. |

A hamstring strain will prevent New England Patriots' wide receiver Kelley Washington from participating in Monday night's matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals, according to the Associated Press.
Also ruled out is offensive lineman Stephen Neal, who has been inactive with a shoulder injury.
Washington is basically a non-factor in the Patriots' passing game with Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth, Ben Watson, etc... all getting more looks. |

With a number of injuries impacting the team, the Detroit Lions on Wednesday re-signed linebacker Donte Curry, who was released on September 1st when the team made its final cuts. Curry is considered an emotional leader and a solid special teams contributor.
He won't be a solid Fantasy contributor, but the Lions could use some emotional leadership after the drubbing they took at the hands of the Eagles. |

The Cincinnati Bengals on Wednesday waived 2004 second-round cornerback Kiewan Ratliff. The insider word has it that Ratliff lacked toughness and was not considered a courageous player.
The team signed Blue Adams to the open roster spot. Adams will be placed in a position to make a quick contribution to the Bengals' special teams play.
This is an interesting move, but not particularly surprising. Ratliff has clearly been a disappointment, and Adams has proven a solid special-teamer in his time in the league. He was with the Bengals during training camp, but suffered a neck injury and was released. He has now signed a two-year contract. |

The official website of the Cleveland Browns reports that linebacker Willie McGinest, sidelined since early August after undergoing surgery on his back, was expected to report to practice on Wednesday. The team will reportedly determine where he is at before deciding whether or not he can be available for Sunday's game.
Getting McGinest back would be a huge benefit for the Browns' struggling defensive unit. He also may be a half-decent pickup off the waiver wire if you need a little help or a bye week filler, if he can play. |

ESPN.com is reporting that the Atlanta Falcons have determined to fine cornerback DeAngelo Hall for his antics on the field Sunday rather than suspend him.
What a shocker. Did anyone seriously think the Falcons would actually suspend their best cornerback? The fine is supposedly less than a single game check, but still represents a substantial hit. |
