The Dallas Morning News suggests that the Cowboys' 2007 starting defensive end, Marcus Spears, may end up at nose guard this year.
Face it, even some of the deeper IDP leagues probably didn't have any teams with Spears on the roster. In three years, he has never had more than 2 sacks in a season, and has registered a grand total of 67 solo tackles - 29 of which came in 2006. |

Once thought to be a starting-caliber prospect if he could just be given the opportunity, running back Najeh Davenport failed to make a large enough contribution to the Pittsburgh Steelers' organization, resulting in his release on Friday.
Mewelde Moore and rookie Rashard Mendenhall are next in line behind Willie Parker on the Steelers' depth chart. Expect Mendenhall to be given every opportunity to be the primary alternative and third-down back when Parker is off the field. |

According to the Denver Post, the NFL could be considering suspending Denver Broncos' wide receiver Brandon Marshall under the league's Personal Conduct Code. Marshall was arrested on March 6 for his second domestic dispute and this third arrest in 12 months. He was arrested for driving under the influence in October 2007 and the case is due in trial in September.
With Marshall and his agent being forthright with the league on his incidents, he could go unpunished. However, this is not the message commissioner Goodell wants to send to players. He could face up to an eight-game suspension for his conduct off the field. That would be really bad for Fantasy owners that have already put a good deal into him.

The New York Giants have signed right guard Chris Snee to a six-year contract extension as reported by Newark Star-Ledger. The deal is reported to make Snee one of the top-five players at his position.
This signing should not be a surprise as Snee is the son-in-law of head coach Tom Coughlin. Nevertheless, it is a solid decision by the Giants' front office in its attempt to keep the continuity of the Super Bowl champion team intact.

The Cleveland Browns have released 35-year old DL Orpheus Roye. Roye would have cost the team over $3 million against the cap, and coming off a season with only 1 half-sack, this move was expected.

The Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday managed to re-sign their most significant free agent, fullback/running back Greg Jones, to a new five-year deal that is reportedly rumored to make Jones the highest paid fullback in league history.
This is great news for Maurice Jones-Drew, who does a good job of letting Greg Jones clear massive holes in the line. |

The Denver Broncos released nine-year veteran linebacker Warrick Holdman on Monday.
Holdman suffered a spinal cord injury in training camp on August 2nd, and never played a regular-season down for the Broncos.
While he was certainly going to take a bite out of the salary cap, with the Broncos needing some linebacker help, it's not too far a reach to suspect that Holdman isn't expected to be healthy for 2008. |
