San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has notified the team he will play in 2008. Merriman is going against the advice of four knee specialist, which have stated he should miss the 2008 season and have surgery on his two torn ligaments. Merriman stated, "I know what's at stake, but I had a goal
with the team before the season started, and I'm sticking to it."
Honestly, I admire Merriman for his commitment to be with the team and try to get them to the Super Bowl this season. However, one little twist this way or that, and his season will be over and possibly his career. I do not see him playing a full 16 games, and finding himself limited to certain situations during games.

After 33 days, the Jacksonville Jaguars have finally signed their first round selection, defensive end Derrick Harvey. Harvey is the final first round player to be signed, and he agreed to a five-year, $33.4 million deal. The contract includes $17.175 million guaranteed and the deal includes incentives and escalators.
The Jaguars finally got their man right as pre-season comes to a close. He definitely will be sitting in the doghouse for a few weeks, if not the entire season, after his ridiculous holdout. The deal ended up being for the same amount originally offered, but it allows for Harvey to obtain the incentives easier...if he is so good, why does he need it to be so easy?
