Steve McNair intended to complete the final three years of his contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He worked hard during the offseason and arrived at minicamp ready to assume his role as the starting quarterback.
His body had other plans.
McNair announced his retirement Thursday, ending a 13-year career in which he was selected co-MVP, led the Tennessee Titans to the Super Bowl and orchestrated the most successful regular season in the Ravens history. He received a standing ovation from his teammates after revealing his decision, then contained his emotions during a hastily arranged news conference.
He may have been on his way out anyway, but you can never take away the toughness that he played with year in and year out. He may never make the Hall Of Fame, but he will always be remembered. Good luck Steve.

Following yet another run-in with the law, the Cincinnati Bengals have cut ties with incorrigible cancer Chris Henry.
Henry, 24, surrendered to police Wednesday evening after he was accused of punching an 18-year old in the face and breaking his car window with a beer bottle.
Henry has had a number of encounters with law enforcement, ranging from a recent court appearance for driving with an expired license plate to five arrests since December, 2005.
The receiver served a league suspension, and created a great deal of frustration within the Bengals' organization.
Commissioner Goodell isn't going to take this one lightly. Say goodnight, Gracie. |

Defensive end Kevin Carter, released at the end of February in a salary-cap related move by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has reportedly decided to re-join the Bucs for a one-year contract, spurning a two-year offer from the Oakland Raiders.
Carter is expected to make less than he did last year in the first season of a four-year deal he originally accepted to join the Buccaneers. He is entering his 14th NFL season. |

The Philadelphia Eagles on Monday signed former Patriots' and Colts' defensive tackle Dan Klecko to a two-year contract - to be the team's new full-time fullback.
Klecko has played sparingly on offense over the years, scoring one touchdown two years ago with the Colts. He enters the team competing, at this time, only against a player who was on the practice squad last year (Jason Davis) after the team did not re-sign former starter Thomas Tapeh. He says, though, that he intends to lose about 20 pounds in order to transition to the position. |

Adam Schefter of NFL Network reported that Oregon's standout RB Jonathan Stewart had surgery on his toe on Wednesday, and is expected to miss 4-6 months.
This will most likley impact his draft selection, but he is still a very good fantasy selection if he lands in the right spot.

The Houston Texans added another RB to their roster by signing oft-injured, ex-Titan RB Chris Brown to a 2-year contract.
This could actually be a good place for Brown to land if he can stay on his feet. Houston's zone blocking scheme is suited perfectly for Brown, but he will have to battle through a mediocre roster first.

The Detroit Lions released RB Kevin Jones on Thursday.
We didn't see this coming, but with the news that he may not be healthy for the 2008 season, the team decided to cut their losses. It's a pretty sure bet that the Lions will look to draft an RB on day 1.

Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald agreed to a re-worked contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday that will free up salary cap space for the team, and pay the wideout $40 million over the course of four years.
The Cardinals only had about $400,000 left before this deal, so they were desperate. The team originally wanted to extend Fitz to a new six-year deal, but ultimately found themselves between a rock and a hard place, and agreed to the four-year deal that Fitzgerald wanted. The deal gives the team an additional $8.842 million in cap room. |

The Chicago Bears are intent on being mediocre at best in 2008 again, as evidenced by the signing of WR Brandon Lloyd.
Once thought to be a top receiver, Lloyd has become a joke of sorts among fantasy owners. It is hard to envision him having any fantasy value on "Da Bears".

The Denver Broncos have signed former Lion LB Boss Bailey to a 5-year, $17.5 million contract. The contract includes a $4.3 million signing bonus.
Bailey has shown some talent, when he is able to stay on the field. It is a big paycheck for someone who could not become a significant player in Detroit's defense..

The Tennessee Titans are once again the home of the Freak. The team signed DE Jevon Kearse to a 2-year, $6 million contract, with $1.3 million guaranteed.
He is only a situational pass rusher at tthis point in his career, but he is a good player joining two solid starters in Haynesworth and Vanden Bosch..

The Seattle Seahawks have signed yet another RB. On Friday the team signed former Cowboy RB Julius Jones to a 4-year, $12 million contract.
This most likely means the end of the Shaun Alexander era in Seattle and will put Jones at the top of the depth chart for them.
