Most likely if you are reading this you were one of the lucky ones that made the playoffs in your league. Well Congratulations. Here are a few players that should be available on your waiver wire that could provide you some relief from all the injuires that seem to be the norm in today's NFL.
Here are our WIRED UP! IDP selections for week 14.
LB
Brandon Chillar STL – Chillar has been playing well in the last two games with 11 solo tackles, 2 sacks and 2 pass defensed. If you are still looking for help at this late stage, then he is a suitable option.
Justin Durant JAC – Durant has taken over the weak side position, as Daryl Smith moves to the middle to replace the injured Mike Peterson. In the last two games Durant has made 17 total tackles, 2 pass defensed and an INT that sealed the win over Buffalo in week 12. Peterson is out indefinitely and Durant makes for a very nice addition this late in the season.
Tully Banta-Cain SFR – Banta-Cain had his best game of the season in week 13 with 6 solo tackles and a sack. This came one week after he secured a fumble in the end zone for the game winning TD in overtime against Arizona. He is not very consistent, but if you are reading this column at this late stage of the season, then he can probably give you some depth.
DB
Hiram Eugene OAK – Eugene has taken over as the starting Free Safety job from Stuart Schweigert. Eugene will not be a great option in shallow leagues, but deep roster leagues he could be a welcome pickup this late in the season.
Fred Bennett HOU – The rookie is starting to see a lot more playing time and has 3 INTs in his last 4 games. He also has 18 tackles and 7 passes defensed in that same time frame. He is a very good pickup, especially in Dynasty leagues.
Jonathan Joseph CIN – Joseph has been quiet most of the season, but he does have 2 INTs in his last two games to go with 11 solo tackles, 1 assist and 4 passes defensed. With upcoming games against St Louis, San Francisco and Cleveland, Joseph makes for a good DB 2 play.
DL
Igor Olshansky SDC – Olshansky has started to get to the QB in the last two games with 1.5 sacks, but he has also added 8 solo tackles, 3 assists and a forced fumble. If you are in need, then he could be worth the chance, but only in deeper leagues.
CJ Mosley NYJ – Mosley has 2.5 sacks in the last 3 games and is obviously getting more reps. He is not a tackle machine, as his high for the season is the 3 he had in week 13 against Miami, but if you get good points for sacks, he makes for a chancy DL 3.
Adam Carriker STL – The rookie is starting to get into the rotation a little more often and has made 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass defensed and a safety in his last 3 games. He won’t win you any games, but if you are truly desperate, you could do worse.
