WIRED UP! IDP Style Week 9 Print E-mail

So here we go into week 9 and you are trying your best to cover those bye week and injury issues, well hopefully these guys can put your teams over the top and propel you into the fantasy playoffs to start soon.

Here are our IDP Waiver Wire suggestions for week 9.

Linebackers

Bradie James DAL – For some reason Bradie gets no respect, but he has quietly increased his stats in his last 3 games. In those 3 he has 15 solo tackles, 11 assists, 1 fumble recovery and 1 sack. He is not a player that will go through the roof, but he is a steady performer.

Chris Gocong PHI – In his last two starts he has 10 solos and 4 assists. He should get plenty of chances this week as he faces Dallas and Jason Witten. Even after that he has Washington, Dolphins and Patriots, all teams that like to use their TEs. He makes for a good spot starter.

Leon Williams CLEAndra Davis started this past week, but it seems to be just a ploy to get Williams fired up, and it worked. Against the Rams in week 8 he had 9 solo tackles and a pass defensed. He has some favorable match-ups against running teams and should see plenty of chances.

Tedy Bruschi NEP – It’s surprising to see Bruschi available on so many waiver wires, but he is putting together a very good season, even though his partner Mike Vrabel is getting all the attention. In the last 4 games Bruschi has 23 solo tackles, 12 assists and 2 sacks. Solid stats.

Defensive Backs

Antonio Cromartie SDC – Ok, so you’re saying yeah he got lucky one week why should I pick him up? I say pick him up because the team is going to find it hard to keep him off it. He is a ballhawk with above average cover skills.  This pickup is mostly for larger roster and dynasty leagues for now, as he is still entrenched behind Drayton Florence, but this could easily change in 2008 as Drayton’s contract comes up.

Leigh Bodden CLE – Another Cleveland defensive player a GOOD pickup???? Yes. Bodden is having a solid season and has 4 INTs, 40 tackles, 1 fumble recovery and 8 passes defensed. He has a couple of good match-ups coming up.

LaRon Landry WAS – After a slower start then some might have wanted, he was released by some owners. Now he is making them pay as he has recorded 17 solo tackles and 7 assists in the last 2 games, included 15 tackles against New England.  He faces some decent running teams moving forward and makes a good play.

Quintin Mikell Phi – Mikell has picked up the starting Free Safety role with Brian Dawkins out, and while he is no Dawkins he could give you a little help if you need it. He has 17 tackles in the last 3 games. Dawkins is supposed to start practicing this week and may play so watch the news and pick up Mikell if Dawkins can’t go.

Defensive Linemen

Brian Young NOS – Ok so maybe you’ll listen to me now as Young still seems to be available and quite a few leagues, but after posting his third sack in as many weeks, maybe now you’ll understand. The kid is hot and is coming up against a few teams that have been known to allow a sack or two. If you need the help, here it is.

Philip Daniels WAS – After a very slow start Daniels became a forgotten man, but that is changing as he has been all around the ball the last few games with 3 forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, 1.5 sacks and 10 tackles he is worth a look if you need some help. He is going against the young Kellen Clemens this week, who will have a hard time with Washington’s corners, look for a solid game from Daniels.

Dwan Edwards BAL – This is a risky pick because normal starter Trevor Pryce may be back this week, but if Pryce isn’t able to go then Edwards is a decent pickup. In the last two as he started for Pryce, he has 9 tackles, 1 interception and 1 sack. If Pryce does play, then Edwards becomes a rotational player and does not have much value, so be careful.
