Here are some IDP players that may or may not be available in your leagues. If you need the help, one of these players should be able to help your fantasy team.
LINEBACKERS
Angelo Crowell BUF – It amazes me to see Crowell available in quite a few leagues. He is the only Buffalo defensive player that has any consistency at all. So far on the season he has 41 tackles, 1 interception and 2 passes defended. He has a chance to put up some nice fantasy points because of his match-ups the next 4 weeks.
Leon Williams CLE – Williams continues to see increased playing time and has already supplanted Andra Davis as the starter. Davis is decent, but they think Williams has a chance to be better. He has 27 solo tackles and 7 assists on the season which are solid numbers and he will give you a decent fill-in LB 3 on any given week. Cleveland is on bye this week, so it might be the perfect time to grab him.
Pisa Tinoisamoa STL – After a very slow start due to ineffectiveness and injury, Tinoisamoa is finally starting to get in a groove. In the last 3 games he has 13 solo tackles, 4 assists, an interception and a pass defended. He has a really nice schedule coming up and should continue to put up good fantasy points.
Demorrio Williams ATL – Williams was benched earlier in the season for rookie Stephen Nicholas, but now Nicholas in injured and should be out for the next one to two weeks, once again moving Williams into the starting lineup. He had 5 solos and a pick in the game against Tennessee in week 5 and 4 solos and 2 assists against the Giants in week 6. He does have the chance to take the job back while Nicholas is hurt, or he could be just a stop gap player until Nicolas returns.
Michael Boley ATL – Everyone, myself included, has said that there is no way Boley could keep up this type of scoring from the strong side. Well guess what, we were right, he hasn’t kept it up……he keeps getting better. In six games he has 43 solo tackles, 8 assists, a forced fumble, 4 passes defended and 2 interceptions. You might as well hop onto the bandwagon with the rest of us unbelievers.
Ben Leber MIN – Leber is coming off a solid game against the Bears with 3 solo tackles, a sack an interception and a pass defended. He is once again listed as questionable for week 7, but he should play, although he is a not a great play against a pissed off Cowboys team. He does have some favorable match-ups going forward.
Junior Seau NEP – Seau got his third interception of the season against Dallas in week 6, but that was about all he did fantasy wise. That being said he has some good match-ups on the horizon and should make for a viable relief player for your fantasy team.
DEFENSIVE BACKS
Tye Hill STL – Hill is finally getting back on the field after missing 4 games because of broken bones in his back (just typing that hurts). In the first week of the season he had 8 solo tackles, so he is a good play especially with his upcoming schedule. Week 6 was his frist week back and while he was getting rid of the rust he put up 3 tackles and a pass defensed.
Roderick Hood ARI – Hood had an exceptional week in week 5 against the Rams where he returned one interception for a touchdown, had another INT, plus two tackles and 5 passed defensed. He then followed up in week 6 with 6 solo tackles and 2 passes defensed. He has a very favorable schedule going forward and should continue to get plenty of chances to score.
Aaron Ross NYG – The rookie out of Texas has finally gotten a chance to play and he is making the most of it. In the last two games he has 3 interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He doesn’t get a ton of tackles, but he is a big playmaker who should plenty of chances going forward.
Terence Newman DAL – Newman has been getting playing time with starting CB Anthony Henry sidelined, and he has been making the most of it. In the last 3 weeks he has 16 solo tackles, 2 assists, a forced fumble, an interception and a pass defensed. Henry has already been ruled out for week 7, which means that Newman has at least one more good match-up against Minnesota.
Brandon McGowan CHI – McGowan has gotten more playing time due to the injury to Nathan Vasher and he is making good use of it. In the last 3 games he has 16 solos, 4 assists, a fumble recovery, an interception and a pass defensed. Vasher is out again in week 7, so if you need injury or bye week help, McGowan should be available in most leagues.
DEFENSIVE LINEMEN
Tommie Harris CHI – For some reason I have seen Harris available is a larger number of leagues than I would have guessed. He does come with a bit of an asterisk in this week’s list though, as there is a chance he will be game time decision this week as he continues to battle knee problems. But even with that, he already has 4 sacks on the season and 14 solo tackles.
Jovan Haye TBB – Haye has been seeing more playing time mostly because they are having a hard time keeping him off the field. He already has 3 sacks on the season, including 2 in the last 3 weeks. He has also 13 solo tackles, 7 assists, and a pass defended in those same 3 weeks. He has great match-ups in 3 of the next 4 games, so pick him up now.
Hollis Thomas NOS – Thomas has seen some increased playing time in the last two weeks and has responded with 9 solo tackles, 2 assists and a sack. He has a good schedule moving forward, so it may be a good time to grab him.
Paul Spicer JAC – Spicer has 2 sacks in the last two weeks plus 6 solo tackles, 2 assists and a forced fumble. He has a tough match-up in week 7 against the Colts, but then he gets TB, New Orleans and Tennessee. He should continue to see increased playing time due to the ineffectiveness of starter Bobby McCray.
