In the battle to acquire future hall-of-fame quarterback Brett Favre, the New York Jets ended up beating out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by reaching a trade agreement Wednesday evening with the Green Bay Packers.
The terms were not immediately available, but the Green Bay Press Gazette reports that the Packers will receive a draft choice as compensation. Sources told the Press Gazette that the Jets offered a third-round draft pick that could reach higher rounds based on Favre's performance.
