No, it's not an official retirement, but the Denver Broncos made a move Friday that allows wide receiver Rod Smith to not count against the team's offseason roster limitations, and strongly indicates that he is expected to retire by placing the veteran on the reserve/retired list.
This is not really unexpected. Smith still wants to play, but as evidenced by his comeback attempt from his hip injury last year, that's just not as easy as it once was. Expect him to finally call it quits sometime before training camp.
