Lewis was slated to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the month. The Panthers' defensive line is a huge question mark heading into 2008. Kris Jenkins' future with the team is uncertain, Mike Rucker (33) will not retire, but is expected to leave the team via free agency, and Julius Peppers, in a word, sucked last year. Keeping Lewis may not be a huge deal, but it does mean the team may not have to completely rebuild the defensive line this offseason. |
